Rare Cancer Expertise

Expertise in Lymphoma & Haematologic Malignancies

Dr Chopra’s combined training in haematology and medical oncology provides an important foundation for his work with blood cancers. His clinical experience includes Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, multiple myeloma and chronic leukaemias, alongside his broader solid-tumour oncology practice.

His approach combines systemic cancer treatment with an understanding of the biology and management of haematological malignancies, supported by his specialist fellowship training and American Board certification in Haematology and Medical Oncology.

Experience in Neuroendocrine Tumours

Dr Chopra also has experience in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumours, one of the rare-cancer areas represented within the Tamarind Health Rare Cancer Centre.

What Dr Chopra Wants Patients to Know

A diagnosis of lymphoma or a rare blood cancer can feel overwhelming, but the first thing I want patients to know is that there is often more reason for hope than they initially realise. Many of these cancers are highly treatable, and treatment has advanced enormously with targeted therapies, immunotherapy and other newer approaches. The most important first step is to understand exactly what type of disease you have, because even cancers with similar names can behave very differently and require very different treatments. My approach is to explain the diagnosis clearly, discuss the options honestly, and make decisions together with the patient and their family.

Dr Chopra’s Approach to Rare Cancer Care

When someone comes to me with a rare or complex cancer, I approach their case individually rather than simply applying a standard treatment pathway. I spend time reviewing the pathology, scans and molecular findings carefully and, when appropriate, discuss the case with specialists from other disciplines or seek additional expert input. I also keep abreast of emerging evidence, clinical trials and new targeted treatments that may be relevant. Just as importantly, I believe patients should understand why we are recommending a particular treatment. My role is not simply to prescribe therapy, but to help patients and their families navigate difficult decisions with clarity, honesty and a treatment plan tailored to their individual situation.

Dr Chopra’s Broader Oncology Experience

Dr Chopra also treats a broad range of cancers in addition to the rare cancer areas highlighted on this page. His broader oncology experience includes lung, head and neck, genitourinary, breast and gastrointestinal cancers.
