Rare Cancer Expertise

Expertise in Sarcoma, Brain Cancer and Uncommon Skin Cancers

Within rare cancers, Dr Rajasekaran’s areas of focus include sarcoma, brain cancer and uncommon skin cancers. These cancers can be particularly complex, and her approach begins with a careful understanding of each patient’s diagnosis and the underlying biology of their cancer.

She considers the appropriate diagnostic and molecular investigations, treatment options and emerging therapies relevant to each individual case, and values multidisciplinary discussion and specialist input where appropriate.

What Dr Rajasekaran Wants Patients to Know

A rare or complex diagnosis does not mean there are no options. Cancer treatment has become increasingly personalised, and advances in molecular testing, targeted therapies and immunotherapy have opened up possibilities that may not have existed even a few years ago. It is important to understand the diagnosis fully, explore the appropriate tests and treatment options, and seek multidisciplinary or specialist input when needed.

Dr Rajasekaran’s Approach to Rare Cancer Care

I approach every patient as an individual, rather than simply treating the cancer diagnosis. With rare or complex cancers, I believe it is especially important to review the diagnosis carefully, understand the biology of the cancer and consider all appropriate treatment options, including newer therapies and clinical trials where relevant. I value multidisciplinary discussion and collaboration with other specialists when a case requires expertise across different areas.

Dr Rajasekaran’s Broader Oncology Experience

Dr Rajasekaran also treats a broad range of cancers in addition to the rare cancer areas highlighted on this page, including thoracic, lung, genitourinary, breast and head and neck cancers.
