Dr Ang Peng Tiam serves on the Board of Tamarind Health. He is the Medical Director and Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at Parkway Cancer Centre, with over 40 years of clinical experience. A well-known leader in the field of cancer care, he has a strong local and regional following of patients from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and beyond.

Dr Ang was the Founding Head and Senior Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology, Singapore General Hospital.  He held the concurrent appointment of Clinical Associate Professor at National University of Singapore.  He was instrumental in establishing Medical Oncology as a speciality in Singapore and training a generation of medical oncologists, many of whom have gone on to leadership positions both in the public and private sector.

Dr Ang was one of the Founder Doctors of Singapore Cancer Centre. The company was listed in the Singapore Exchange as TalkMed in January 2014 and Dr Ang remained the Chief Executive Officer from incorporation until it was delisted in September 2025.  He is currently a board member in Tamarind Health, which now wholly owns TalkMed and all its subsidiaries.

Besides his clinical role, Dr Ang was the longest serving council member in Singapore Cancer Society. He was previously the Vice-Chairman of Singapore Cancer Society.  He has served in many posts including Chairman pf Public Education and Chairman of the Community Partnership Committee.  He was responsible for championing fund raising projects to support the needs of cancer patients.  Dr Ang was also a past-President of Singapore Society of Oncology.

Dr Ang was educated in Anglo-Chinese School and has been actively involved in his alumni since 1990.  He has served in many posts including President of ACS Old Boy’s Association, Vice-Chairman of the ACS Board of Governors and member of the ACS International Board of Management.

Dr Ang is a believer in Christ and he worships with his family at Barker Road Methodist Church.  He is married to Siok Lin and blessed with four children (all of whom are doctors) and seven grandchildren.

Dr Ang has authored more than 100 papers and abstracts in the medical literature and actively participated in many international cancer conferences and forum.  He has also authored several books such as Doctor, I Have Cancer. Can Your Help Me? (published in 2006), Stories of Hope (published in 2009) and Hope and Healing (published in 2014).  He was contributor to Straits Times – Mind Your Body column.

Dr Ang completed his medical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Dr Ang was awarded Singapore’s President Scholarship in 1977.  He received the Professor Sir Gordon Arthur Ransome Gold medal for being the top candidate in the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) examination in 1986.  He was awarded Singapore’s National Science award in 1996.

He was conferred a datukship by the Sultan of Kedah for his public contributions in Medicine in 2003.
