Dr Peter Ang serves on the Board of Tamarind Health. He is a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre with over 30 years of clinical experience. His areas of expertise include breast cancer, breast cancer genetics, young-onset breast cancer, and lung cancer.

Graduating from the National University of Singapore in 1991, he earned his Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1997. In 2000, he received the Ministry of Health HMDP Scholarship to train at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, USA, focusing on breast cancer and cancer genetics. He also qualified in the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) certifying exam and, in 2001, was among the first to achieve certification in Familial Cancer Risk Assessment and Management.

Before private practice, Dr Ang was Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist and Director of the Cancer Education Service (2004) at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, and visiting consultant to KK Hospital to establish cancer genetics services. As lead of the Breast Cancer Workgroup (2002) for the National Cancer Centre and SingHealth, he helped implement the Breast Cancer Health Management Plan (2003). He also led Public Cancer Education at SingHealth (2004) and received the National Excellent Service Award (EXSA) in 2005. His clinical expertise covers a wide range of cancers, including lung, stomach, colorectal, lymphoma, kidney, ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers.

He is the author and editor of Illustrative Cases in Breast Cancer (2006), and he has reviewed for leading medical journals. His research includes breast cancer in women under 35, non-small cell lung cancer, irinotecan in colorectal cancer, gemcitabine with pegylated liposomal doxorubicin in metastatic breast cancer, lapatinib for HER2-positive disease, and pharmacogenomic studies in Asian patients.

A recognised authority in breast cancer, he has spoken at the Breast Cancer Foundation, the Singapore Cancer Society, and major oncology conferences, including the Singapore Medical Oncology Review Course (2007), Asian Oncology Summit (2009), and Asia Breast Cancer Collaborative Group Meeting (2010). He has led over 10 clinical trials involving chemotherapy and targeted therapies such as herceptin, lapatinib, and sunitinib.

His work has been published in journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Chest, Lancet Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, and the New England Journal of Medicine. 

Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Hokkien, Teochew dialects, Dr Ang also speaks some Malay and Bahasa, and has cared for patients from Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
